Newspaper towers

On the first day of term 4 we made newspaper towers, our goal was to make a freestanding tower only using 30 cm of tape & 2 sheets of newspaper ( we weren't allowed to use scissors). Our idea was to roll up the newspaper and tape it together, at first we tried to roll it up thin but it didn’t work because the base was too small which made it harder to stand. Then we made the base a bit wider and the top a bit smaller. The hardest part was getting the tape to stick to the newspaper because the base was wider than the top. What we did well was listen to everybody's ideas and try them to see if they worked and if they didn’t we would try the other person's idea. Have you ever made any sort of tower using random objects? If so why not blog about it. Bye!

  1. Kia Ora Autumn, It’s Mark.S from your class I really like your post about the Newspaper Challenge it sounds interesting. I also liked the way how you told us what materials you needed to use to build the free standing tower. I did the same thing as you, I got some ideas from other people and tried to look at other peoples tower to get ideas. How come your idea didn't work? Was it hard trying to stand up your tower?
