PROJECT ISLAND SONG!

On Thursday twenty of the year fives & twenty of the year sixes participated in the Project Island Song to learn about why we should keep the island pest-free. Project Island Song is a place where kids can learn more about pest, planting trees & why they are important.

There are seven pest-free islands, we went to the biggest one, it’s called Urupukapuka island & we also went to Cable bay which was on the island. It was super fun because we got to plant trees, make rat traps & two of the groups got to make weta homes.

My favorite part was when we were near the end because we got to go for a little walk & we heard & saw heaps of different native birds, I think we were really lucky because we got to see a Saddleback.

Marble run reflection

In Te Ngahere we have been making marble ramps, it took a long time because every
time we tested the marble ramp the marble either went further than 110cm or too far behind 110cm.
so every 10 times we rolled the marble we changed a variable, a variable is when
you change something & you get a different result. In week 3 on friday there was a
challenge to see whos marble went the closest to 110cm the winning team was Emma T,
Cheyenne & Missy & the people who built the ramp was Mikila & Isabella - Paige.
Then we had to make a marble run reflection & we had to answer about 6 questions then post it on our Blog
& Seesaw.

Bay Bush

A few weeks ago bay bush action came to our school & told us about how Possums, Stoats, Weasels, Rats,
Cats, Dogs & Ferrets affect our native wildlife. After it had finished we had to create something about it.
we could of done a song / rap, animation, acrostic poem or a play, Zara & I chose to do a play,
it was quite difficult because we were only allowed 2 people in our play but after we had
finished the script we realised how hard it would be with more than 2 people.
We had to change our script multiple times because first we were going to do a
Stoat eating a Kiwi egg but unfortunately it was too hard, then we tried to change
it to to a Dog eating a Kiwi egg but then realized that dogs eat Kiwis not their eggs,
so after we had finally perfected our script we made our play.
