Mosaic Art

Most of last week and this week in Te Ngahere we have been doing some digital mosaic art. Mosaic art is a type of art which is just lots of little pieces of paper stuck on another piece of paper slightly spread apart. Since we are doing this digitally we made a google drawing, chose a nice background color, got a picture of an animal or idol and pasted it onto the google drawing. You have to make sure you are able to use the image though, I chose a tiger.  After we have done that we use the polyline or shape tool to make a whole bunch of shapes on the picture, we then   colored the shape the same color as the picture and make the border color of the shape transparent then continue that until you have filled up all of the picture. I have already finished my first one  so I moved onto a second one, for that one I chose a snow leopard and I have now finished that one.  I really enjoyed doing this because it is just so fun to do in your spare time. Here are mine

Do you enjoy doing art?

PouPou Art

In Te Ngahere we have been doing poupou art. Poupou is a
traditional carved piece of wood which you would usually
see on top of a whare in New Zealand. So we decided to
turn that into art, we started by folding a small piece of
paper into a grid of 6 then we drew the body using the
directions from our teacher and this was our practise copy.
We then drew around the pencil with vivid, after that we
drew our designs & colored them in, we had to make sure
the designs weren't too detailed and small because we were
using pastel to color them in and pastels are thick, then we
started our good copy on a bigger piece of paper.

Sunrise Tree Art

This week in Te Ngahere we did sunrise tree art, we used pastels to
draw & color in our art. First we had to draw a thick orange or red
circle in the center of the page than we had to draw thicker yellow
circle inside & leave a small gap in the middle. Then we had to use
lighter yellow or white in the center, after we had done all of that we
had to smudge it all together kind of like an ombre effect. We then
has to draw a tornado shape underneath the sun using black pastel
or charcoal & draw tree on top of it so it is like a silhouette. What I
could do better next time is do my art a bit quicker instead of mucking
around & what i did well was I followed all the instructions correctly.
Are you a good artist?
