Doing reading about the Waitangi Treaty Grounds

In Te Ngahere we have been doing some reading about the
Waitangi Treaty Grounds. We had to write three reasons why
the Waitangi Treaty Grounds are special, who they are special to,
how it benefits people and how it is used. I chose the Museum of Waitangi,
the Flagstaff, Ngatokimatawhaorua and the Carving studio. I found out that the
Museum of Waitangi was opened on the 5 February 2016 and that there is a
new museum opening on 5 February 2020 which is one day before Waitangi
Day. I found out that the Museum of Waitangi benefits people who want to find
out more about New Zealand. I found out  that the Museum of Waitangi is used
to show everyone the history of New Zealand. One reason why the Waitangi
Treaty Grounds are special is because you can learn about the cultural
significance of Waitangi, even if you aren’t Māori. They also have a great
education centre with heaps of cool stuff like: Virtual Reality, Tinkercad,
Paint 3D and a whole bunch more.
Have you ever been to the Waitangi Treaty Grounds?

Movie Making

In Te Ngahere we have been making movies We had to be in groups of 3
but since I wasn’t here I was in a group of 4 with AJ, Ataahua and Mark Because we weren't finished our movie on the last day of term 3 we had to
film some of our movie at AJ’s house. We couldn’t film the whole thing because
one person from our group wasn’t there. Then in the first week of term 4 we
started to film again. Once we got it finished we put it into an IMOVIE and
deleted all the videos but we forgot to save it so we had to redo some of it.
We only had to redo some of our movie because the part we filmed at AJ’s
house was saved on her chromebook. So the next day we filmed again and
this time we made sure it was saved before we deleted all the videos.
Have you made a movie before?

PE / Atheletics (Long Jump) With Mrs Pou

On Friday the 25th of October we did Athletics. There are 5 groups,
I am in group 3. Our group did long jump with Mrs Pou because the
fence was still being made we couldn't do long jump so instead we
played 1 game but before we played the game we had to practice
the long jump technique, it was a 1 - foot take off and  2 - foot landing, we did that for about 5 - 10 minutes.
After we had finally finished that we got to play the game, there were a whole
bunch of rulers with a medium sized gap between each of them but we were
only allowed to put 1 foot in each gap and every time someone touched a
ruler it would get taken out and the person would be out. Once everyone was
out we played one more round but this time if we touched a ruler it would be
taken out but we would still get 1 more turn.

Have you ever done long jump before?

What I learnt from Swim safe with Tracy!

On Thursday Tracy came in to talk about swim safe. One thing I learnt
that riptides pull you in from the sides. I also learnt that some flare guns
heat up and if you don’t know how to use them they can end up blowing up.
Another thing I learnt is that the flare guns that heat up aren’t waterproof
so the only way to put them out is dunking them in the water. I learnt a lot
from Tracy and really enjoyed her coming. Next time if I get bored I will still
listen instead of just sitting there. Next time I go on a boat I will make sure
that we have flare guns and someone of the boat knows how to use them.
Do you have a boat? If so, do you wear a life jacket while you are on it? Bye

Newspaper towers

On the first day of term 4 we made newspaper towers, our goal was to make a freestanding tower only using 30 cm of tape & 2 sheets of newspaper ( we weren't allowed to use scissors). Our idea was to roll up the newspaper and tape it together, at first we tried to roll it up thin but it didn’t work because the base was too small which made it harder to stand. Then we made the base a bit wider and the top a bit smaller. The hardest part was getting the tape to stick to the newspaper because the base was wider than the top. What we did well was listen to everybody's ideas and try them to see if they worked and if they didn’t we would try the other person's idea. Have you ever made any sort of tower using random objects? If so why not blog about it. Bye!

Quality Blog Posting

In Te Ngahere we have been doing some learning around Quality Blog Posting.  We had to read the importance of the title, introduction, DLO, reflection, sources, question & write it down into our own words. After we had done that we had to make it into a DLO. When I started making my DLO I accidentally mixed up the reflection & sources. What I could do better next time is maybe add a bit more detail to my DLO. Have you made a DLO before & if you have what was it about? Thanks for reading my post, bye.

Movie Making

In Te Ngahere we have been making movies, for a couple of weeks we have
been learning to put our writing in order & use the correct structure with
story beats for the movie making. We had to get in groups of 3 but since I
wasn’t here I was in a group of 4 with AJ, Mark.S & Ataahua. The first thing
we had to do was plan our movie on a story beat, then we had to write our
script. After we had written our script we had to write down all the camera
angles that we were going to use for everything they say & do. We haven’t
finished yet but we just need to get our props ready & film it after we show the
teacher.
Next time I could do better by helping someone in the group if they get
stuck & do a bit more work. Have you made a movie before?
Thanks for reading my post bye!
