Math DLO
In Te Ngahere we have been learning how to double & halve. We had to make a math DLO, first we had to write how many slides we were going to make & give specific information about what was going to be on each slide. Then we had get it checked by someone & show a teacher.
Next we had to create a new slide & start, on the first slide I made a title page, on the second slide I did what we were learning & why, on the 3rd slide I had shown how it works, on the 4th slide I did why would I use this strategy & why it works & on the 5th slide I had to show some examples.
The strategy
Doubling & halving is simplifying a big multiplication problem like 6 x 14 is the same as 12 x 7, you would usually halve the bigger number & double the smaller number but if you can’t halve the bigger number it can sometimes be easier to double it - E.G - 13 x 4 would be the same as 26 x 2.
I enjoyed making the DLO because I kept making mistakes & then I can learn from the mistakes. Next time I could try to read it out loud a bit more to check if it makes sense.
